PLANNING A COURSE OF STUDY

All freshmen and new transfer students should meet with Dr. David Power, the School of Music's Associate Director for Undergraduate Studies, for initial advisement and instructions regarding majoring in Music.   This is most easily accomplished by attending one of the summer orientation programs offered by the Office of Undergraduate Studies.  Advising, beyond this point is carried out by a team—School of Music Academic Advisors, School of Music Area Advisors, and College of Fine Arts Advisors.

It is necessary for students to meet with their advisors each semester to review degree progress, make decisions for the next semester, remove university holds, and complete and sign the semester's Private Study Application.  Failure to meet with advisors can result in a hold that will not allow the student to register and ultimately delay of graduation.  Best results will be achieved by meeting first with the area advisor, then the academic advisor and ultimately the college advisor.
