PLEASE NOTE: There are separate forms for Music Scholarships and the University of Utah Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. The latter form is for University-awarded financial aid and scholarships only.

Currently Enrolled Students: Music Scholarships are awarded for one year only. Music Scholarships are renewable each semester for a total of four years (8 semesters) if you continue to meet standards outlined in the Scholarship Agreement. These standards include meeting appropriate academic standards; maintaining full-time student status; being enrolled in a major ensemble and private studio lessons; and maintain adequate performance levels. All Music Scholarships renewals are contingent upon available funding. Students wishing to apply for the first time or to reapply must meet the scholarship application deadline of January 21st, 2011 by completing a detailed Music Scholarship Application. Auditions for scholarship renewal are not typically necessary. If the Scholarship Committee does not believe they have enough information documenting the progress of an applicant, or for other special reasons, an audition for a continuing student may be required.

Mikhail Boguslavsky Chamber Music Scholarship

Established in loving memory of Mikhail Boguslavsky, the Boguslavsky Scholarship Fund provides School of Music string students with financial assistance to pursue advanced study in chamber music. At least one student a year will receive an award to cover expenses associated with attending a workshop, summer program, master class, or other extramural activities including travel costs, registration fees, and other related expenses.

Eligible students include junior, senior and graduate orchestral string students in good standing who are currently also participating in chamber music (violin, viola, cello, bass, and harp).

Special consideration will be given to members of the school’s honors string quartets, in recognition of Mikhail Boguslavsky’s founding role in their establishment and his leadership in developing the school’s chamber music program over his 25-year tenure.
