Undergraduate Admission
1. Audition: All undergraduate students must audition for acceptance as a music major or minor, and also for scholarship consideration. Please audition on your major instrument or voice.
Auditions for Fall 2012 admission will be held on February 11 and 25, 2012. To schedule an audition time please call the School of Music 801.581.6762 beginning January 5, 2012. The School of Music Office is open Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (801.581.6762).

2. Apply. There are two steps:
- Apply for admission to the University of Utah online through the University of Utah Admissions Office
- All prospective students must also submit a Scholarship/Admissions Application to the School of Music.
Other information: Every student accepted into the School of Music must take either the First-Year Theory Rudiments Diagnostic Assessment for freshman or the Transfer Theory Placement Exam for transfer students. Click HERE for more information.
Graduate Admission
The application process includes three important steps:

2. Upload required materials:
- Statement of Purpose
- Three letters of recommendation (follow instructions in the Application)
- Other application materials required for your degree: Please see the Degree Program Guidelines for specifics. Materials that cannot be submitted electronically should be sent directly to the Academic Coordinator, School of Music (see address at bottom of page).

Graduate Student Assistantships
Fall semester applicants only may be considered for financial assistance available through the School of Music. To be considered for a graduate teaching assistantship or graduate assistantship, fall applicants must submit complete application materials and the Music Graduate Student Assistantship Application by February 1. Earlier application is encouraged.
