SECOND-YEAR through HIGH SCHOOL

Each year students receive private lessons for two 15-week semesters and one 10-week summer session. They also attend monthly group musicianship classes during fall and spring semesters. Private lessons are schedule with the teacher. The length of the lesson is determined by age and ability of the student. Private lessons and group classes are taught by members of the Preparatory Faculty.

Attendance at monthly musicianship class is required. The classes are designed to help the student develop performing skills as well as music theory, sight-reading, rhythm and aural awareness. Please contact the private teacher for the specific class time and performance schedule for each student. Students are placed in class according to age and ability. There is no makeup for missed classes.

First Monday of the month (third Monday if holiday is scheduled)

7th through 12th grades, CONSERVATORY 4:00 to 5:30 pm

REGISTRATION:

A completed registration form with a check or money order payable to the Preparatory Division for the non-refundable $10.00 fee is required. Registration form and fee required for new and continuing students. New students are required to audition for entrance in 2nd-year level and above.

PRACTICE:

Successful, satisfying music study is dependent upon consistent daily practice. Practice time of 30- to 45-minutes per day is required for 2nd-year piano students, increasing to one and one-half hours to 2-hours daily for 7th-grade through high school students

- A piano kept in tune and good repair
- A metronome for use in daily practice
- A practice setting free from distraction (e.g. siblings and TV)
- Parental supervision of all practice periods for beginners
- Encouragement, support and appreciation for your pupil efforts
- Consistent attendance at classes and lessons

CANCELLATION:

When 24-hour cancellation notice has been received by the teacher one private lesson per semester will be made-up at the teacher's convenience.
