Dr. Myron Brett Patterson holds the Doctor of Sacred Music degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation and is also a Foundation Fellow. In addition to teaching organ in the School of Music, Dr. Patterson is Organist of Bountiful Community Church. He has also held organist and director of music positions in various churches both in Canada and the United States. He holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Library Science degrees from the University of British Columbia; the Master of Music in Organ and Church Music from Northwestern University; the ATCL in piano pedagogy and LTCL in organ performance from Trinity College, London; and the ARCCO (CHM) diplomas in organ and choir training from the Royal Canadian College of Organists, Toronto. His teachers have included Professor Hugh McLean, Richard Enright, and Wolfgang Rübsam; he has also studied improvisation in master classes with Naji Hakim and Marie-Bernadette Dufourcet. Dr. Patterson’s research interests lie in the areas of Baroque organ music performance practice and the church music of Tudor England.

Dr. Patterson is the principal organist for the Salt Lake Symphony Orchestra and is the Founder and Music Director of The Canterbury Singers. A former Board Member of the Association of Anglican Musicians, Dr. Patterson has also served as Dean of the Salt Lake City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He has presented workshops and lectures for the American Guild of Organists and has been an adjudicator for numerous competitions. Patterson has performed recitals in the United States, Canada, Germany and his native England.
