Merla Little studied piano with Gladys Gladstone Rosenberg, is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and a certified piano teacher through MTNA. Merla teaches Piano Pedagogy and Intermediate Piano Pedagogy to piano majors and is the director of the Preparatory Division. With a faculty of 18 teachers and an enrollment of over 250 students, the Preparatory Division offers a combination of classes and private lessons in piano and organ to pre-college students and adults.

A native of Utah, Merla is a member of the Little-Tanner Duo and continues to perform in recitals as well as accompanying various choirs, vocalists and instrumentalists. In May of 2005, she completed a concert tour in Belgium with the University of Utah Wind Ensemble. She has directed numerous summer music camps for pre-college students and hosted a Kindermusik workshop for Music Resources International. Merla has held various offices in UMTA and is an active lecturer and adjudicator.

Ms. Little’s piano students have received collegiate scholarship awards as well as placed or won various competitions including High School Music Sterling Scholar, SummerArts, Utah State Piano Competition, Joy Robin, county fairs, high school solo ensemble in performance and composition, and reflections.
