The University of Utah Percussion Ensemble has received international acclaim under the direction of Douglas J. Wolf. The Ensemble has the distinction of winning the Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Contest on two occasions. Their impressive record of success has led them to be featured at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, Music Teachers National Association Convention, All-Northwest Music Educators Conference, Utah Music Educators Conference, Utah Percussion Festival and Robert Schuller's Hour of Power at the Crystal Cathedral. The Ensemble has been honored to premiere many new works for percussion and has commissioned composers David Gillingham, Tom Gauger, Raymond Helble, Henry Wolking and Ardean Watts. In addition to concert appearances throughout the United States, the Ensemble has been featured on KUTV and KSL television and has produced a PBS television special with KUED. The University of Utah Percussion Ensemble can be heard on their CD recording series entitled Classic Works for Percussion Ensemble, Volumes I, II and III.
