Known as the "Pride of Utah", the University of Utah Marching Band with the Crimson Line perform at all home games, selected away games, and Bowl games throughout the football season. The Marching Utes™ annually perform for over 300,000 people. Considered one of the University of Utah's great ambassadors with students representing virtually every academic discipline, the "Pride of Utah" continues to be the most visible performance ensemble within the School of Music. Recent nationally televised bowl games include the 2006 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, the 2005 Emerald Bowl, the 2004-2005 BCS Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the 2003 Liberty Bowl and the 2001 Las Vegas Bowl. Each pregame and halftime show combines an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary marching drill and music arranged and written specifically for the band. Auditions for the marching band are scheduled for the spring semester and continue throughout the summer semesters. There is not a requirement to be a music major in order to be considered for membership, and each student in the band receives a scholarship. The Marching Utes™ rehearse Monday-Friday from Noon until 1:45 PM. A typical game day features a short rehearsal, nationally and regionally televised games and exposure, a traditional performance for the Utah "tailgaters", exciting pre-game and half time performances, lots of fun in the stands and a post-game performance featuring the Alma Mater and Utah Man. If you enjoy being challenged, love great music, fun, meeting new friends and exciting Mountain West football, the University of Utah Marching Utes™ are for you!
